Sox Deal Beckham

The White Sox have traded Gordon Beckham to the Angels.
CHICAGO – The Chicago White Sox have traded second baseman Gordon Beckham to the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations.

Beckham, 27, is batting .221 (86-390) with 24 doubles, seven home runs and 36 RBI in 101 games in 2014. He agreed to terms on a one-year contract on January 17. Beckham is a career .244 (637-2,607) hitter with 61 homers and 276 RBI in 739 games with the White Sox (2009-14).

Beckham owns the second (.9899 in 2012) and third (.9889 in 2011) highest fielding percentages by a second baseman in White Sox history, trailing only Nellie Fox’s .9901 mark in 1962. He owns a .981 fielding percentage this season.

Chicago will make a corresponding roster move prior to tomorrow night’s series opener against New York at Yankee Stadium.
