Boylan Wins Fishing Sectional

Two Boylan seniors combined to win the Sectional Bass Fishing Tournament at Rock Cut State Park.
ROCKFORD-Friday was a great day to be fishing. There were more than the usual number of fishermen at Rock Cut State Park. The IHSA Bass Fishing Sectional was held.

Ten local schools were represented. Some had multiple teams. Two or three students were allowed per boat. They had five hours on Pierce Lake. After that the teams brought in their five biggest fish to be weighed. The top three teams would advance to State.

A team from Lutheran took third place (11.58lbs). Another from Belvidere North took second (11.96lbs). The winning team was a pair of seniors from Boylan Hunter McKinley and Peter Bortoli. Their five bass weighed in at 13.12lbs.

The largest single catch of the day belong to Oregon. Their big bass weighed 4.46lbs.
