Miller Makes Big Bears Debut

Zach Miller scored two touchdowns Friday night in the Bears' pre-season win over the Eagles.
CHICAGO, IL- The Bears had no problem executing plays in their pre-season opener against the Eagles. Chicago shutdown Philadelphia 34-28.

"It took all 90 guys to win this game. We had 90 Chicago Bears out there and we played four quarters. I was really excited about that," says Marc Trestman, Bears Head Coach.

Jay Cutler and the veteran starters looked sharp, but it was some of the guys under the radar who made the biggest difference. Pre-season games are all about creating that 53-man roster. It's safe to say after this game that one tight end spot will be filled by Zach Miller.

"Zach, kind of the first time with us and obviously had a heck of a day. So we've got to keep getting better in that regard," says Jay Cutler, Bears quarterback.

Miller caught six passes for 68 yards and two touchdowns. The first one was a 10 yard pass from Jay Cutler.

"I knew that was the only place they could put it when I peaked back and he let it go. I was happy that he had trust in me to throw it to me," says Zach Miller, Bears tight end.

"I know Zach well enough to know that he's got great body control. He played quarterback in college. He understands where he's supposed to be and so when the ball's in the air it's his. He had a great night and I'm so fired up for him," says Jordan Palmer.

Miller battled injuries with Jacksonville in previous years and was waived by Tampa Bay prior to the 2013 season. With Martellus Bennett's suspension this week, Miller got his chance to shine.

"It felt good tonight. It's been a long time since I've had that feeling. But it's something where I felt I could still play and I could prove myself," says Miller.

The Bears are back at practice again this week before they host Jacksonville on Thursday in their next pre-season game.
