Stillman will be playing in its second straight big game after losing to Lutheran last Friday.
“I think that’s kind of the fun with high school football. Every week is different," says Stillman Valley coach Mike Lalor. "They have just as explosive of an offense. They have just tremendous power up front and physicality and they will just flat out wear you out.”
What makes Stillman such a challenge for Winnebago? “I think it’s a combination of power and speed and they have a nice aerial assault as well so yeah, they’re very well rounded," says Winnebago coach Mark Helm.
If Bago wins, they win outright; their first Big Northern West Conference title in school history. Stillman can seal a tie with a victory on Friday.
“It would mean a lot (to win outright)," says Winnebago tight end Isaiah Yanni. "We haven’t done it in…a long time. So this would be big for our school.”
And as the regular season ends, you couldn’t ask for a better atmosphere or higher stakes in a regular season contest.
“These are the games you remember, win or lose," says Lalor. "So to have two of them at the end of the year, it’s really like our playoffs got started two weeks early this year.”
“It’s gonna be fun," says Helm. "Two good teams, week 9. It’s gonna be fun.”
