ROCKFORD - A fourteen year old boy has been arrested after accidentally shooting himself.
After taking himself to Swedish American Hospital on Friday evening, the boy initially lied to responding Rockford Police officers that he had been walking, heard shots, and realized he had been shot.
The officers determined this information to be false.
After questioning, the teen admitted to the truth, that he had been in possession of a gun and had accidentally shot himself, while riding as a passenger in a vehicle.
He was treated for non-life threatening wounds, and later released.
He was then arrested and charged with Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Person Under the Age of 18, and no FOID card.
