FREEPORT - A second man is arrested in the death of a woman back in 2012.

Cedric Winston is charged with first degree murder and attempted first degree murder as well as various other charges related to the death.

48-year-old Victoria Strong was shot in the leg after an altercation broke out between two groups of people at a party in September 2012. She died almost a week later.

Freeport police say they're happy to finally be nearing the close of the case.

"Well, I just want to say that I'm very proud of our detective bureau, and the officers of this department who put a lot of time and effort into this case," says Todd Barkalow, Interim Chief of the Freeport Police Department. "It's come to somewhat of a conclusion at this point. Next up will be the court system."

A second man, LaShawn Thurman, also faces murder and attempted murder charges in the death of Strong.
