Dave Erlandson describes the residents in his quiet neighborhood as an older crowd who keeps to themselves.
"We kind of look out for each other, I think if we see any strangers or any of that during the day, but at nighttime, you know everybody pretty much stays in" Says Rockford resident Dave Erlandson.
Around one thirty Sunday morning, a burglar walked up to Erlandson's home in the six hundred block of Barry Road, opened the screen door, and forced him to empty his wallet.
It's the latest in a recent string of home invasions throughout
Erlandson describes the male burglar as standing five foot nine- to six feet tall and wearing black gloves and a black face mask.
Erlandson was not harmed during the altercation. But he says until he gets the neighborhood watch that he's been pleading for, he's keeping his screen doors closed and taking matters into his own hands.
Erlandson says "I got my pistol out and loaded, I had that put away, so I feel like I need some self-protection you know. If I'm holding a weapon, he may turn around and run.
