ROCKFORD - A man has been arrested, charged with arson, for a fire at a house on Jacqueline Drive where two adults and two children were inside.
Anthony James Cooper, 28, was arrested on Friday. The criminal complaint alleges Cooper started the fire sometime around 3 a.m. on Thursday, March 1. It goes on to say Cooper knew, or reasonably should have known, that there were people inside the home at the time.
None of the occupants of the home were seriously hurt, although two adults were treated on scene for smoke inhalation. The family dog was credited with saving the family after alerting them of the fire.
Cooper now faces four counts of arson. Each count carries a maximum sentence of 30 years.
