WTVO/WQRF - A pair of construction projects cuts off traffic.
The Illinois Dept. of Transportation is beginning work on two locations Monday. The first is on Springfield Avenue between South Main St. and Prairie Road. The stretch of road is roughly .4 miles. IDOT says it'll widen, resurface, remove pavement and replace, as well as add a barrier median.
It's expected traffic will reopen by Aug. 4. However, the project is not expected to finish until closer to the new year.
Also, IDOT has closed off access to Forest Hills Rd. north of 173 in Machesney Park. It will be closed for four days. It's part of a multi-million dollar project to widen Rt. 173.
