Organizers credit the weather. "The weather we're blessed. It’s been absolutely beautiful and the forecast is for even better weather so we can't ask for more," said Boone County Fair Marketing Director Tom Ratcliffe.
And neither can kids or families at the fair. The livestock and elephants seem to be a fan favorite.
"They like the animals and the rides. He says he wants to ride the rides so we'll see," said Mom Amanda Mclain.
Kristen Getter is happy knowing her child is having fun. "Watching his reaction to everything. He loves animals it's his favorite thing," said Getter.
Animals are just one thing keeping people entertained. There are also rows and rows of games.
Game Operator Kevin Kasin is grateful attractions like Pro-Bull Riding and live music draw people to the fair. "We give out lots of prizes, big prizes. Lots of games are prizes every time, winner for all the kids especially at the duck pond," explained Kasin.
With more than 175,000 people expected to walk through fair gates there are enough prizes, rides, and food to go around. Organizers are just glad to be celebrating fifty years at the Boone County Fair Grounds location.
Country Singer Craig Morgan will perform Saturday night at the Grandstand. The fair runs through Sunday. For more information visit www.boonecountyfair.com
