Father Andrew Deitz says "I spent seven years in seminary, and there's a lot of priest and faculty members that have helped us grow."
Father Jared Twenty says "The promises of obedience, the promises to pray without ceasing, the promises of celibacy obviously that's the one that everybody knows about the priesthood, and it's not an easy one, but neither is marriage.”
The Catholic Church is seeing an increase in priests after more than thirty years of decline. Early indications that previous sex scandals that plagued the church are a thing of the past.
Bishop David Malloy of The Diocese of Rockford says "It is something that we continue to have to address and apologize for particularly as bishops, that said, I think the young men coming out today like the young men we ordained, have really learned that lesson. It has been incorporated very much into their preparation and formation."
While the church is happy the way things are going, they say they can still use more men willing to take a leap of faith and become a Catholic priest.
Father Twenty will be assigned to Holy Cross in Batavia. Father Deitz will be at St. Thomas in Crystal Lake.
