She was driving in between jobs for the maid service she worked at. Belinda and Mark Shabazz knew Parker for more then thirty years.
Mark Shabazz says “she was willing to help people out and always had a smile on her face and she loved her little boy”
The boy Shabazz is referring to is her seventeen year old son. Parker was a single mom who left behind a seventeen year old son.
Miskoz was arraigned in court on several felony charges Monday, including reckless homicide. Winnebago County Deputies say he raced away in a pickup truck when they tried to pull him over so a suspected DUI.
He crashed into Parker’s car at the intersection of Mulford and Garrett with deputies in pursuit. Sheriff Richard Meyers says the officers followed proper procedure.
The Non Profit group Pursuit Safety believes chasing suspected drunk drivers unnecessarily puts innocent people like Michelle Parker at risk.
Candy Priano of Pursuit Safety says “we do realize that drunken driving by itself is a public safety issue, but when it’s combined with police chases, the risk to the innocent bystander is obviously increased.
