Fairdale Fire Keeps Crews Working Late

UPDATE (2/9/14): A Fairdale family is homeless after a fire completely destroyed their home at 232323 West Street.

Kirkland Fire Department received the call at 9:08 P.M. Saturday. Two children and two adults got out of the house without any injuries. It took crews nearly five hours to put out the flames. Seven fire departments responded including Genoa-Kingston, Boone County, Cherry Valley, Malta, Monroe Center and Lynn Scott Rock.

Investigators say they can’t disclose what might have caused the fire. The home is a total loss. The family is staying with friends and being assisted by the American Red Cross.


FAIRDALE- A house caught fire Saturday night in Fairdale on West Street near Route 72. At least six fire departments were called to the scene. The crews included Kirkland Fire Department, Genoa Fire Department and Cherry Valley Fire Department.
