ROCKFORD - A fire causes major damage at a local body shop.
It happened around 4:30am at the Martinez Auto Repair located at 815 1st Avenue. When firefighters arrived on scene, they were greeted with heavy smoke spewing out from the shop.
A vehicle inside had caught fire.
It took 30 minutes to put out the car fire. However, the flames had spread to the roof. The second fire took two hours to get under control.
No word yet on what caused the car to catch fire. Officials estimate the business suffered about $100,000 in damage.
