Five Hurt in Head-on Rockford Crash

ROCKFORD - Five people are hurt after two cars crash head-on near the Rockford Airport.

This happened just before 6pm Wednesday at Beltline Road and S. Main Street.  Police say a Chevy Malibu and a Toyota Camry collided when one of them tried to beat a red light and turned into the other. Investigators can't pinpoint which driver did that yet.

Both cars have major front end damage.  Four people in the Malibu were taken to the hospital and one from the Camry.  All of them have what police describe as non life threatening injuries.
