ROCKFORD - Despite plummeting temperatures, gas prices continue to rise.
Gas prices rose 13 cents in the past week, settling at $3.63/gal. GasBuddy.com says Rockford drivers are spending nearly 20 cents more than the rest of the nation.
Don't expect any relief at the pump soon.
"Gasoline prices... will continue to rise and perhaps at the fastest rate we could see in 2014" says Senior Petroleum Analyst Gregg Laskoski. "With lower production as refineries prepare for an increase in demand... for summer... price spikes can occur."
Prices are significantly higher even from a month ago. Gas prices were 35 cents lower last month.
