Goose Gone! How Northern Illinois University Scares Geese Away

DeKalb- Meet the Goosinator. Northern Illinois University’s high powered battery operated device used to scare the geese away.

NIU Director of Media and Public Relations “the colors of the Goosinator is orange which is meant to look like one of the predators.”

The Goosinator’s operator sways the device in the lagoon, mimicking a predator. It's all in an effort to scare the geese off campus.

While the Goosinator does its job school officials suggest students do not feed the geese. Palian says “human food does not provide them with the nutrients that they need, but it also causes them to congregate in spaces that normally they wouldn’t.

The Goosinator does harm the geese.
