ROCKFORD - Governor Quinn comes to Rockford to sign legislation to help make schools safer. He visited Rockford’s RESA middle school today to sign three pieces of legislation into law. One requires private schools to perform regular safety drills which are already a requirement for public schools. A second bill sponsored by Rockford Senator Steve Stadelman would provide more funding for school safety improvements. The third allows schools to make updated emergency plans available to first responders and school officials electronically.
