WTVO/WQRF -- How cold is it?  It's so cold, the Great Lakes are on track to break a record for being nearly completely frozen over.

Officials with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration have released satellite images they say shows the Great Lakes are 90.5% covered in ice, one of the highest rates ever recorded.  The all-time high since records have been kept happened in 1979, when the Great Lakes hit 94.7%.  One NOAA scientist told CNN that seeing as temperatures are forecast to stay well below freezing, the Great Lakes could break that record this week.
