ROCKFORD - An influential stateline activist is stepping down.

Jacki Neil-Boss announcing her retirement Tuesday. She was the executive director of The Arc, an organization dedicated to serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.

As a parent of a child that has disabilities, Neil-Boss says her desire to help those with special needs will never end.

"I will never take off my advocacy hat," said Neil-Boss. "I'm simply not going to be involved in the running of the organization, but I'll be a life-long member of The Arc. I'll always support The Arc and I may come back and do some volunteer work after a while."

Neil-Boss was the executive director for the past 10 years. Her retirement is effective immediately.
