ROCKFORD - Artist Roni Golan is trying to keep the State of the Art Contemporary gallery open. He sells artwork from an art trade program in Michoacán, Mexico, and sells his own designs to art lovers in the Forest City.

By introducing art to the general public, he says he is doing his part to keep downtown alive. He gives out private classes and rents out his facility for events. Now he’s asking the community for help.

The gallery is hosting a fundraiser on August 1st at 218 E. State St., Rockford to collect donations. The event will take place from 5-9 pm, and the live performance starts at 7pm.
