Rockford- With signs saying we stand united and success comes through unity, Winnebago County Workers from AFSCME Local 473 are protesting outside of a county board meeting for what they call fair pay among circuit clerks. They say it’s hard for them to make end’s meat.

Ed Sadlowski from AFSCME says “it takes about 28,700 a year in annual income to be self sufficient. Here in Rockford the county set and many people here go to work full time in Winnebago County and are paid far less that that.”

The workers have been without a contract since October 1st of 2013 and want to speed up the process.

Winnebago County Board Member Burt Gerl says he hopes a new contract can be hammered out soon. He says “I believe that our employees should be treated fair and equally just as any other employee who works for us or anybody that represents the county.
