Local Woman Begins Trek from Rockford to D.C.

ROCKFORD - The march to D.C. has begun for one Rockford woman.

Shelter Care Ministries holding a send off rally for executive director Lou Mess on Tuesday. She's walking 750 miles to our nation's capitol to draw attention to poverty stricken cities across the country.

With the support of Rockford Mayor Larry Morrissey and members of the Shelter Care Ministries, she headed out on her journey.

"I worked out and walked and got some good cold weather gear, so I'm just as ready as I'm going to be," says Ness.

Her journey will last two months and she's expected to reach D.C. by June 1st.
