MACHESNEY PARK, IL--Residents in Machesney Park are up in arms about the possibility of turning property along Forest Hills Road into multi-family residential.

This means that residents in that subdivision could have apartments in their backyard.

This area was originally intended to be single-family residential, but now that may change.

In a quiet neighborhood, residents are worried about the noise level. They are also worried that this plan would bring more traffic to their community.

Some have even expressed concern about the effect this would have on their property value.

"The property values dropping on my residence because of that back there...numerous things, I just don't want it,” said Robert Clankie, a neighborhood resident.

The neighborhood is petitioning this idea and has put up signs in protest.

The city will vote Monday on whether or not to move forward with this plan.

The subdivision is hoping for a good turn out at Monday’s meeting.

"We're going to try,” said Clankie.
