Man Accused of Handcuffing and Beating His Own Mother

JANESVILLE -- A Janesville man faces several domestic violence assault charges after allegedly beating and handcuffing his own mother.

41-year-old Cory Berkley faces charges of False Imprisonment, Battery, Strangulation and Disorderly Conduct.

Police allege Berkley pushed and struck his 65-year-old mother during a verbal rant, using handcuffs to pin her to the ground during the attack, even choking her at one point.  The woman reported physical pain to her neck, ribs, back and wrist area.

When police arrived, they say Berkley refused to surrender and fled to the basement of the home.  Officers then use pepper ball pellets to force him out and arrest him.  He is being held in the Rock County Jail.
