Neighbor and friend Jeffrey Burris says “if you typically met him, he would not seem like the kind of person who would end up being violently killed in that manner.”
It’s unclear if the comments online had anything to do with Scott’s death on Wednesday. He was found in his home with multiple gun shot wounds to the head.
Burris and his family are still grieving. Burris says Scott would refer to him as “pops.”
Burris “there were not words, definitely a lost of words. Burris says. There was nothing he could say to you know express the grief and shock I saw on his face.”
Burris has been trying to clean up the violence in Freeport for years. Now he is left mourning the death of a man he referred to as “son.”
Burris says “Walter will be remembered his generosity. He will be remembered for his smile, his spirit and for who he is. And that’s a good guy.”
Anybody with any information on the death is urged to contact Stateline Crime Stoppers at (815) 235-7867
