WTVO/WQRF - For once, Illinois is on a financial list for a good reason.

Illinois is among the cheapest places in the nation to own a car, according to Bankrate.  Drivers on average spend under $2,000 per year on gasoline.  The Midwest in general scored well on the list.

The most expensive place to own a car is Wyoming.  Drivers there spend about $2,700/yr.  Bankrate says drivers there log more miles and as a result have to buy more gas.

Louisiana and Florida round out the top three.
