Representative from the 67th District Chuck Jefferson says “it’s sad that we have to worry about being out and having a good time and we have to worry about somebody driving by and taking a shot at some.”
The event is being held by the family of Brandon Wright. He was murdered in November of 2011.Wright’s sister Michelah Scott stopped making jewelry after her brother passed, but started back eventually in his honor.
She says “it’s always gonna be a recovering process for us. And I think you learn to live with it.
You never get over it”Oliver Emerson lost his brother in a car accident eight years ago and his relative Semarin Dubois to gunfire last month.
Emerson says “whoever is doing all this shooting and killing; it’s hurting us as a family and a community. We are the ones left here to grieve for them. We are the ones that are hurting because of the violent acts.”
