Politico: Illinois Governor's Race No Longer a 'Toss-up.'

WTVO/WQRF -- In a sign of Gov. Pat Quinn's political struggles with less than 90 days to go before the election, 'Politico' has changed its 'Crystal Ball' prediction for the race from 'toss-up' to 'leans Republican.'

In explaining the decision, the online newsmagazine wrote, "In Illinois, Gov. Pat Quinn’s (D) terrible approval rating and the state’s struggling economy threaten his reelection efforts. We are now making venture capitalist Bruce Rauner (R) the favorite in Illinois, changing the rating from Toss-up to Leans Republican."

Clearly, Politico can also read poll numbers, and the most recent 'Reboot Illinois/We Ask America' poll shows Rauner now up by 14 points. Rauner's support, however, is at 47% with 20% of the electorate undecided, and given the political makeup of Illinois and the dominance of Cook County, getting past that 50% threshhold by election day will be a challenge for him.
