Recording between Pilot & Airport Radio Tower Reveal Plane's Issues

ROCKFORD - A recording between the pilot and the airport indicates a plane that crashed in Rockford on Monday had equipment trouble even before it tried to land.  As investigators begin to look into what caused the King Air C-90 Turbo Prop to crash and sent all four inside to the hospital, Chicago - Rockford International Airport Tower transmissions indicate what may have been the issue.

The pilot indicated he was experiencing a problem with the plane's transfer pump, which required that he be given priority for landing.

Aviation experts say a transfer pump is used to send fuel from one tank to another.  The Airport Tower Controller cleared the King Air C-90  to land on runway 19, which is aligned southward.  However, the plane ended up short of runway 25 which points West.

Outside the perimeter of the runway, tree branches are snapped off, visible indications of large tire marks in the grass, and a dismantled fence.  However, airport officials say it still isn't clear what caused the crash.  They will continue to investigate with the National Traffic and Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

The plane is registered to Rockford Dentist Edward Noakes III.  Although, no one has confirmed whether Noakes or his family members were on board.  However, it is confirmed that Noakes works at Camelot Endodontics.  Eyewitness News called the office and they declined to comment on whether Noakes was involved in the crash or not.

There still is no word on the conditions of those who were on board.
