ROCKFORD -- Hundreds of stateliners gather tonight to take a stand against a common enemy... Cancer. Winnebago County's annual Relay for Life is going on all night at Rockford Christian... And Eyewitness News is a proud sponsor. We're walking in honor of Meteorologist Eric Nefstead... Who lost his battle with cancer last year. Survivors say the relay is a simple way the community can fight back against cancer.

"We need to find a cure for this terrible disease that everyone is coming down with lately," cancer survivor Kathy Thomas says. "
It seems like more and more people are coming and being diagnosed with cancer and every little of money that we can get to help go towards that cause would help."

And just to show you how seriously some folks take the relay... This couple chose to get married at the event. We're told the new husband and wife and their family participates every year... And they didn't want to miss it.
