WTVO/WQRF - Despite the Forest City's best efforts to prove to everyone it isn't, new survey shows otherwise.

A Gallup survey pegged Rockford as having the 5th Most Miserable Workers in the country.

Survey respondents say a lot of it comes down to trust and respect, or lack thereof.

Only 72.3% of workers say their workplace is a trusting and open place to spend 40 hours a week.  Also, workers say they aren't treated like equal partners.  Lastly, less than 60% of workers say they learned something new and interesting in the last 24 hours, that's among the lowest assessments in the nation.

Here's how the top five most miserable cities rounds out:

  • Fayetteville, N.C.
  • Poughkeepsie-Newburgh-Middletown, NY
  • Beaumont-Port Arthur, TX
  • New Haven-Milford, CT
  • Rockford, IL
