Rockford Burglary Suspect Caught in Act, Detained at Gunpoint

Incident happened at home in Creston in Ogle County

CRESTON - A Rockford man is in custody after police say he was caught in the act of burglarizing a home and held at gunpoint by the homeowner.

The incident happened at a home in Creston in Ogle County Tuesday afternoon.

25-year-old Elijah Greer was arrested at the home by Ogle County Sheriff's after the homeowner told them he caught him burglarizing it.  He's charged with Residential Burglary and was being held without bond pending arraignment.

Rochelle Police and Illinois State Police assisted in the arrest.

It was not clear why a Rockford man would allegedly travel all the way to Creston to burglarize a home there.
