ROCKFORD - Gas prices have dropped, easing the burden on drivers' wallets.
GasBuddy.com reports the average price to fill up in Illinois is now $3.41/g, which is down nine cents from last week. Nationwide, drivers are spending $3.45/g, that's only down two cents.
"We're nearing the point [in the year] that gasoline demand drops - after Labor Day - and also the upcoming switch back to cheaper winter gasoline will also put downward pressure on prices in mid-September," says GasBuddy's Senior Petroleum Analyst, Patrick DeHaan.
Analysts predict some cities nationwide could see gas prices dip below $3.00/g.
