Rockford Man Convicted of Attempted Murder in Domestic Violence Shooting

Donald Harvey shot wife several times in legs in 2012 incident

ROCKFORD - A Rockford man has been found guilty of Attempted First Degree Murder charges for a 2012 domestic violence shooting that left his then-wife with serious leg wounds.

Donald Harvey, who turned 54 Thursday, was convicted by a jury of shooting the victim with a shotgun several times.  Prosecutors say one of the shots also stuck a crib where his grandchild was sleeping.

Harvey was also convicted of charges of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm.

The Attempted Murder charge carries a sentence of 6-to-30 years in prison, while Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm is punishable by a sentence of 4-15 years.  Harvey is scheduled to be sentenced on June 15th.
