Rockford Man Found Shot To Death In Car

- ROCKFORD - Residents on Crandall Avenue in Rockford woke up Sunday morning to see flashing Red and Blue police lights, after a neighbor found a man shot to death in a vehicle outside a vacant home  “The man was in his car, shot, and it was terrifying and scary” said Tina Howard, a concerned neighbor.

Deputy Chief Dominic Iasparro said “There was a male in the drivers seat of the vehicle obviously deceased, and he appeared to have gun shot wounds.”

Neighbors told Eyewitness News that the vehicles engine was still running when officers arrived to investigate around 6 a.m. Sunday morning. “The vehicle was a Tan Buick, which was pulled off the road, actually sort of backed into the front yard there.” Said Chief Iasparro.

The home where the victim was parked has been vacant for over 2 years, but neighbors told Eyewitness News the owner was there Sunday morning to check on the property when he saw the Buick parked in this lot. Chief Iasparro said “Someone had actually walked by that vehicle, and observed a male in the vehicle they thought was injured or dead. When the owner of the property investigated further, and looked into the car, he saw that the man was completely unresponsive, and covered in bullet holes.

This is the second time in less than one year that someone has been found dead in this neighborhood. They said they are fed up with the Stateline violence “Its hard to live anywhere, you don’t want to live in town, you don’t want to live outside of town, I mean it is everywhere you go.” Said Howard.
