ROCKFORD - A new business opens up in downtown Rockford.
Remade held a grand opening and ribbon cutting Friday morning. Remade is part of the Rockford Rescue Mission. The shop takes donated items and local artists transforms them into pieces of art.
"A lot of labor, a lot of time, a lot of research, a lot of angst, a lot of prayer has gone into growing this," said Volunteer Kathleen Robinson. "To see it comes to fruition in something that looks like this is pretty exciting for us."
Everyone who works at Remade is also a participant in the Mission's Life Recovery Program. The goal is to give them the skills and work ethics needed to eventually find a more permanent job.
Remade is open every other weekend:
- Thursday: 10am - 6pm
- Friday - Saturday: 10am - 4pm.
