RVC Partnership Aims at Getting Qualified Truckers Back in the Stateline

- ROCKFORD - Rock Valley College has now teamed up with Roehl Transport of Wisconsin to create a new program that aims to alleviate the lack of qualified truck drivers in the Stateline area.

The partnership includes joint recruiting and marketing efforts between the two agencies to bring high paying jobs to local residents.

Students will go through the Rock Valley College program and then complete their training with Roehl Transport.  The 240 hour truck driver training program can be completed in six weeks, and combines classroom presentation with hands-on experience.  Students who graduate will receive a Class A Commercial Driver's Licence (CDL-A).

"If a person loves to drive and if they want to consider driving for a career, we have the best program out here to do that; to help them get their CDL-A and then to help them get on the road," said Mark Sandoval, Rock Valley's CDL Program Coordinator.

New hires for trucking firms could earn between $40,000 and $50,000 a year.
