ILLINOIS- Starting today gay marriage is legal across Illinois. Governor Pat Quinn signed the Illinois Religious Freedom and Marriage Fairness Act in November.
Illinois is the 16th state in the United States to make gay marriage legal. Since 2011 more than 6,000 couples across the state have joined in a civil union.
