UPDATE: Missing Woman Boone County Woman Found, But in Critical Condition

Sheriff's Department was looking for Frances Biggs, found Wednesday morning.


UPDATE (10/11/17) -The missing 88-year-old Boone County woman who went missing Tuesday night was found Wednesday morning, but is now hospitalized in critical condition.

The Boone County Sheriff's Office says that 88-year-old Frances Briggs was found unconcious in an un-harvested corn field at around 11am Wednesday morning after an all night search.

She was taken by medical helicopter to OSF St. Anthony Medical Center wherre she is listed in critical condition.

The Sheriff says the extensive search operation, which was hampered by poor weather conditions, brought together first responders from as far away as Naperville and Palatine as well as family, friends and civilian volunteer searchers.


The Boone County Sheriff's Office is conducting an intense search for a missing 89-year-old woman who suffers from Alzheimer's disease.

Frances "Babe" Briggs was last seen in Southern Boone County on Stone Quarry Road wearing a long sleeve denim shirt, jeans, grey shoes, red ball cap, and carrying magazines.  She is approximately 5'00" tall, weighs 125 lbs, with white hair and green eyes.

The Sheriff's Department has blocked off the road, near Bloods Point Road, while they conduct a search of area fields.  They have brought in all-terrain vehicles and thermal imaging equipment to assist with the search.
