SEATTLE, WA - The Emerald City could be the first domino to fall for the push to increase minimum wage.
The city council unanimously approved Monday an ordinance to raise the minimum wage to $15/hr. Seattle Mayor Ed Murray says he'll sign it Tuesday.
The move is estimated to benefit 100,000 workers. The increase applies only to jobs inside the city of Seattle.
The increase won't happen all at once though.
The first increase takes effect in April 2015. It'll increase to $10 or $11 for some businesses. All businesses are expected to offer $15/hr by 2021.
