WTVO/WQRF - Senator Steve Stadelman (D-Rockford) has announced his endorsement for Illinois governor in 2018.
He's backing his colleague, current Illinois 9th District Senator Daniel Biss. Biss is among a list of Democrats running to replace Governor Bruce Rauner, who is seeking re-election. He's amid big names such as Chris Kennedy and billionaire JB Pritzker.
Earlier this month, Biss announced his running mate for Lieutenant Governor would be Rep. Litesa Wallace (D-Rockford).
"Daniel has the experience and the vision to transform our state government," said Stadelman. "To not only pass a budget that balances on paper, but one that provides long-term stability."
In a press announcement Tuesday, Stadelman also addressed Wallace being on the ticket, "As a state representative in my Senate District, Litesa Wallace, too, has a proven record of success of championing causes long forgotten by Springfield...In joining the ticket, Litesa affirms what I already knew to be true: Daniel is the candidate I trust to guarantee a better future for Rockford, and for all of Illinois."
