Senator's Annual Basketball Tournament Changes Venues

The tournament brings in around 400 players in grades 3-8

ROCKFORD - One local senator's youth basketball tournament is expanding so much, he had to move it to a new facility this year.

State Senator Steve Stadelman announced Sunday afternoon that his popular tournament will take place at the UW Health Sports Factory this Labor Day, instead of Davis Park. In past years, the event has drawn in around 400 players in grades 3 through 8. Boys and girls will be able to compete inside this year, with air conditioning and other ammenities, an opportunity they didn't get at the previous venue.

"We have many more courts, so hopefully the tournament will go more quickly," said Senator Stadelman. "And it's just a better place to play...as we know it's been open for a little over a year now, and it's a great place for basketball tournaments."

There is no cost to enter the tournament. Registration is open until September 1st. The tournament takes place September 4th.
