UPDATE: 1 Man Dead in Officer Involved Shooting in Stockton

Police called to scene of suspicious vehicle. Shootout ensued.

STOCKTON - UPDATE:  (3:30pm):  One man is dead and two others are in custody after Stockton Police Officers engaged in an armed confrontation with a suspect.

The call came in at around noon for a suspicious vehicle in a Stockton neighborhood near the intersection of Front Ave. and Blackhawk Drive.  Police say when they arrived, one of the men pulled a gun.  It is unclear if he fired before an officer shot and killed him.

The two other men were taken into custody and police say they are complying with the investigation.

The case is being handled by the State Police.  The scene remains active and several roads in the area are closed off while the investigation continues.

The officer has been placed on paid administrative leave.

UPDATE (2:00pm):  Police have blocked off the area near the intersection of Front and Blackhawk Drive in Stockton after a shooting nearby.

Stockton Police, Jo Daviess County Sheriff's Police and State Police are all on scene investigating.

Our crew on the scene says it appeared to have happened in a residential area.

Illinois State Police confirm they have dispatched units to help investigate a shooting in the Jo Daviess County Village of Stockton.

The shooting reportedly happened at around 12:30pm on Front Ave. in Stockton.

No other details are available at this time.
