BELOIT - Beloit Police say they've arrested a man, charged with second degree sexual assault of a child.
On Tuesday, officers went a residence in the 1800 block of Harrison Avenue in Beloit looking for Raynoldo Mendez, 42, due to a felony warrant for an alleged sexual assault. Beloit Police, working with the U.S. Marshals Task Force, got Mendez to exit the basement of the house to be taken into custody.
No one was injured during the arrest, although a member of the U.S. Marshals team accidentally discharged a firearm during the incident.
Police credit a tip through Greater Beloit Area Crime Stoppers for locating Mendez.
