Rockford-The Salvation Army hands out books as part of its sixth annual Cops 'N Kids program at Head Start. Kids picked out two new books to take home, and local police officers read stories to children.

Organizers say it's a way to get books to children who might otherwise go without, and that it helps build relationships with police and children.
