Cheers and screams were a typical reaction from USA soccer fans when John Brooks scored the winning goal late in the contest.
Many fans were gathered at Boomers Sports Bar in Rockford on Riverside at the old North Towne Mall.
There are 30 50-inch flat screen televisions there that were tuned into the match. Most of the fans were glued to the 212 inch super big screen.
"I wish I was there supporting our team, but man, now that we beat Ghana I think we're going to take our division. Definitely," says soccer fan Troy Hughes.
No one in the house was more emotional about the game than Boomers' owner Perry Dalip was. His family has roots in Albania. He's a huge soccer fan and a huge USA fan.
"I'm speechless. I lost my voice already," says Dalip. "It brought tears to my eyes. We got Ghana off our backs."
"America all the way!," says Hughes.
Team USA's next game will be Sunday against Portugal which lost 4-0 Monday to Germany.
