The holiday season will be here quickly. Traditionally, the holidays mean an influx of jobs in the area.
The place to go Tuesday afternoon was CherryVale Mall, where hundreds of jobs are now available. The mall hosted a hiring event for anyone looking to make some extra bucks this upcoming holiday season.
Hopeful job seekers began trickling in for the event around 3 p.m. They walked right up to retailers and filled out applications. More than a dozen shops, including JCPenney and Victoria's Secret, are looking for seasonal help, mostly sales positions.
However, some of those could turn into full-time positions after the holidays. JCPenney General Manager Molly Brauer says she's impressed with the turnout and hopes that results in about two dozen new employees.
"As we get into the holidays, we have longer hours," said Brauner. "Weekends and nights become something to make sure that we can staff for, so we can keep up with the holiday business."
Based on the turnout, the mall may host another hiring event in the spring.
