Thousands Gather At Freeport Cruise Night

Freeport held their 39th Annual Cruise Night.

FREEPORT - Downtown Freeport resembles a different era as dozens of classic cars are put on display for enthusiasts. Hundreds of antique autos are on display as thousands united for the 39th Annual Cruise Night.

Eligible cars are at least 45 years old and in their original form. People of all ages came out to participate in the display of meticulously kept vintage cars, different than anything that usually drives down the Freeport streets. Vehicles of all different models and colors filled the Freeport Public Library parking lot. Events included a loudest engine contest, a burnout contest, and a cruise parade through the downtown area.

One participant says his favorite part about coming back every year is sharing his wheels with visitors.

"It's neat because everybody gets to see it," said Terri Frint. "I get to talk to a lot of people. They enjoy looking at it. It's fun."

The Annual Cruise Night attracts over 500 cars and thousands of participants. It is planned by the Freeport Downtown Development Foundation.
