ROCKFORD - Four men are in custody for burglary after an alert citizen allegedly caught them in the act.

The incident happened around noon Wednesday at the Old Church School at 1419 Blaisdell Street.  Four suspects pulled up to the church in a green pick-up truck.  A neighbor saw this and called police right away.

Police arrived on scene and arrested one of the suspects located in the rear of the parking lot.  But, with three other suspects still at large, police called in a K-9 unit to search the building.  A perimeter was also set up around the building.

The suspects were eventually found hiding on the second floor.  Police say they were removing scrap metal.  Below are the suspects in custody:

  • William Breedlove, 20
  • Norman Breedlove, 22
  • Edward Mendez, 19
  • Dezmond Wilkerson, 21

All of them are charged with burglary.
